CLASSES - Cross Stitch and Needlepoint

For beginners:    Projects will be finished in class and no more than 2 hours long.  Projects will be simple with one to three colors, all whole stitches and diagrams.  Additional beginner classes will be available until the intermediate level is reached.

For intermediates:  Basics will be covered in class and the class project will include all necessary materials and instructions to be completed at home.  Shop employees are always available after the class for quick questions and help if needed.

For advanced stitchers:  Advanced techniques will be taught.  Classes can include but will not be limited to linen fabric, canvas, specialty stitches, fibers and embellishments.

Seasonal classes:  Will be a themed kit including all necessary materials and instructions to complete a unique keepsake to treasure.  Examples of class projects will be pillows, ornaments, cards, stockings, or trinkets.

It is store policy that children are to be picked up on time.  Parent must be available to pick their child if needed.  Children with special needs or separation issues are welcome to attend class, though at least one parent must stay in the class with the child.  Children between the ages of 4 and 7 must be accompanied by a parent to register.  All class must be prepaid at time of registration.  Cancellations must be received 48 hours prior to class for refunds.

Is your child ready to learn how to stitch?  Some important questions to ask before teaching a child, especially a young child, to stitch are:

  1. Can the child be trusted with a needle? Even tapestry needles are pointy, and many young children are inclined to put anything in their mouths or leave the needles and thread lying around siblings and pets.
  2. Has the child’s motor coordination progressed to such a point that he or she is capable of handling the needle, thread and fabric without frequently dropping them or missing the holes?
  3. Can your child count to at least 20?
  4. Can the child sit still for more than 5 minutes at a time? Many young children have an extremely short attention span.
  5. Is the child interested? If the child isn't really interested in learning how to stitch, you’re probably wasting your time.
